INSCRIPTION on the back of a BONE ENAMEL in the possession of Mr Percy Horne, 49 Gloucester Gardens, W. The inscription is burnt into the enamel.


"Sir Thomas More. London. Oct. 1811. "Painted by Henry Bone R.A., enamel painter extraordinary to "His Majesty and enamel painter to H.R.H. the Prince Regent. "After the original by Holbein in the possession of Angiolo "Bonelli of Toli. It was in the collection of Birch's Heads "of Illustrious Men belonging to (the reign of) Henry VIII. "Was thrown out of window by Anna Boleyn. It was transported "to Rome by the Cavalieri Creszienzi Roman, and on the extinction "of his family it was inherited by the Duca Bonelli, from "whom it was purchased by the present owner".
