H. C. Frick Esq 640 Fifth Avenue New York

Dear Sir, I trust you will kindly forgive my bothering you again but as a matter of exceptional importance has turned up, I am sure you wont mind my bringing the same to your notice. I am empowered to offer you one of the finest if not underlined:the finest Rembrandt in existence. Dr. Bode + others say it is the masterpiece of Rembrandt, + doubtless when I tell you which one it is, you will say so also. The Picture in question is the well known one belonging to Lord Faversham entitled "The Dutch Merchant" – You will find full particulars of it + illustrated in Dr. Bode's book on Rembrandt in Volume 6, page 153. You will of course have this book, + as you will find full particulars therein, there is no need for me to say anything further about it – You will see that it measures 44 1/2 x 37 1/2 inches + is signed in full + it is of the very finest quality + in perfect condition. You will surely have heard of it's [sic.] wonderful quality
