so that you may feel sure that no one intervened to prevent your securing the very finest specimens. We have, of course, a number of the objects left which you would be welcome to, but they are not in my opinion of the standard and dignity which entitled them to become a part of your collection and it is for this reason only that we do not urge you to buy them.

The only exceptions in this regard are the Plaque which you referred to as "The Ascension" but which is designated in the catalogue as "The Resurrection", number 84, plate #21, entitled "Queen Tomyris with the Head of Cyrus" (Bellano) which Tom brought twice to your house.

Regarding the Plaque, I would like you to know that I consider it as an exceptionally beautiful thing and can quite appreciate your admiration for it. You may remember when I first showed it to you in our place among the remaining Bronzes which were displayed on long wooden tables on our first floor. When you admired it, I
