ARTHUR TOOTH & SONS, 41, Boulevard des Capucines, Paris.
My dear Mr. Frick:
I hope you arrived all safely in America and feel all the
better for your trip in Europe. I enclose bill for the three pictures
by Thaulow, (one pastel and 2 oil paintings), NOTE Red Book folio 48} / NOTE also the Greuze and Nattier NOTE Red Book 253} / NOTE
which I hope have been delivered safely to you. The Greuze was painted
for the family of Baron Sezille. It has never been out of the family
since it was painted and is the portrait of a member of the family. It
is understood that in two years I shall take the two pictures back if you
ask for it at the same price. I am bargaining for a very fine Nattier
and if I can get it, you will have the first offer of it.
To avoid what happened last year I should be very much obliged
if you would either send me a cheque here at your convenience or let me
know when you pay our firm in New York.
Please give my kind regards to Mrs. Frick and children and believe
me, my dear Mr. Frick,
Yours very truly,
Edmond Simon.
P. S. Your picture by Dagnan is going on splendidly and I hope to send you
a photo of it end of October or take one with me when I go to America
in November.
