[[Lotz?]] arrived last night feeling rather miserable: he had a good nights rest and says he is much better today.  I sent him a doctor who will look after him properly. It seems that a sleeping powder he took just before arriving at Cherbourg upset his stomach  [[through..? next sentence unclear]].

I was glad to hear from Carstairs that you had taken the Romney. I do not think that I saw a more attractive picture anywhere. I am sure that you will be pleased with it as well as the Constable.
 
I received a very nice letter from Mr [?] this AM. Who seems to be satisfied with the trip and gave a few introductions which will be attended to.
I hope Mrs Frick has recovered from her [?] trouble. I should think that her stay  at [?] ought to be most beneficial to her.
