I think it is a superb work- same size as "The Wreckers." Painted in 1833 and exhibited in that year in the Royal Academy- it belonged to the owner of "The Wreckers" for whom both were painted by Turner. The composition is excellent- same boats in the foreground in a choppy sea. On one of them is the great artist Van Goyen looking for a subject- with the background the cathedral [[?]] of [[?]] - the color is beautifully refined [[?]] - subdued. It is a rational example - not wild execution. I [[?]] it a new opportunity to get a Masterpiece  + that is why I advised your purchasing it. I hope not offensive
